Environmental Compliance Manager

Heavy Industrial Manufacturing | Evansville, IN Area | Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager to join the environmental team of a large, complex heavy industrial manufacturing facility in the Evansville, Indiana area.

This is a unique opportunity for an environmental professional who combines technical environmental compliance expertise with leadership potential. The position will focus heavily on air compliance and permitting, while also providing the opportunity to supervise environmental professionals and develop into broader environmental leadership responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have the potential to progress into a broader Environmental Manager role as part of the company's succession planning.

What You'll Do

• Manage environmental compliance activities with a primary focus on air permitting and air-quality requirements.
• Monitor manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and permits.
• Conduct environmental inspections and spend significant time working throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Partner with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, managers, and plant leadership to address environmental requirements.
• Prepare, review, and maintain environmental reports, permits, calculations, records, and compliance documentation.
• Analyze environmental data and utilize spreadsheets to support compliance calculations and reporting.
• Identify environmental compliance issues and develop practical corrective actions.
• Support environmental improvement projects and regulatory initiatives.
• Supervise and provide direction to other environmental professionals.
• Participate in broader environmental activities involving air, water, and waste.
• Develop the leadership and technical capabilities necessary for future advancement into an Environmental Manager position.

Required

• Professional experience in environmental compliance, environmental engineering, or a related environmental discipline.
• Experience with air permitting, air compliance, air emissions, or air-quality programs.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work directly in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interact effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
